The idea that Republicans are hostile to immigrants is one of the most persistent and misleading misconceptions. What Republicans actually support is a lawful, secure, and orderly immigration system. The United States is a nation built on the contributions of immigrants, and Republicans believe that those who follow the legal process should be welcomed with open arms. What we oppose is illegal immigration, which undermines the rule of law and places unnecessary strain on public services.

A secure border is not about exclusion, but about ensuring that immigration is fair, legal, and safe. Republicans advocate for stronger border security, including physical barriers, technology, and personnel, to prevent illegal entry into the country. This is necessary not just for the sake of law and order, but also for national security. We must know who is entering our country and ensure that dangerous individuals, such as drug traffickers and human smugglers, are kept out. At the same time, we believe in streamlining the legal immigration process to make it easier for law-abiding people to come to America.

Republicans also recognize the contributions that immigrants have made and continue to make to our economy. We support reforms to our immigration system that prioritize merit-based immigration, bringing in individuals who have the skills and talents that our economy needs. This is not about excluding anyone, but about creating a system that benefits both the immigrants and the nation as a whole. A fair and transparent immigration system is in everyone’s best interest.

Moreover, we believe that the current system often fails those who are trying to immigrate legally. Long wait times, bureaucratic red tape, and confusing processes make it difficult for good people to come to America the right way. Republicans want to fix this by simplifying the legal immigration process, ensuring that those who want to follow the rules have a clear and fair path to citizenship. In the end, our stance is about respecting the rule of law, ensuring safety, and maintaining the proud tradition of America as a nation of immigrants.
